Personalisation and Unique Experiences: The Top Trends for 2023 and 2024 Weddings

From Bold Colour Palettes to Tech-Savvy Features: More 2023 and 2024 Wedding Trends to Watch Out For

As a wedding photographer and videographer in the UK, I’m always looking ahead to the latest wedding trends so I can help my clients capture their special day in the most current and stylish way possible while at the same time trying to keep their wedding images and film looking classic and hopefully not dated for the years to come!

With 2023 here and 2024 just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about the top wedding trends for the coming years, not only from a photography POV but also overall.

One of the biggest trends we’ll be seeing in the next couple of years is an emphasis on sustainability. Couples are becoming increasingly aware of their environmental impact and are choosing to plan their weddings with eco-friendly options in mind. From choosing locally sourced flowers and food to using recyclable or biodegradable materials for decor, there are plenty of ways to create a stunning wedding while still being mindful of the planet. Time and time again its often the case that couple choose to also recycle their wedding decor, sell it on, or just say no to lots of pointless bits and bobs that really don't make their wedding that unique. Sustainability will continue to be a major trend in the wedding industry. Couples will be seeking out eco-friendly suppliers. Eco-friendly decor, such as potted plants and reusable glassware, will also become more popular.

Another trend we’ll be seeing is a move away from traditional colour schemes. While classic white and pastel shades will always be popular, we’ll also see a rise in bold and unexpected colour combinations. Rich jewel tones like emerald and sapphire paired with metallic accents can create a luxe feel, while bright shades like hot pink and orange can add a playful touch. 2023 and 2024 will also see a continuation of the trend towards more personalised and unique weddings. Couples are opting for customised details that reflect their personalities and interests, such as incorporating their favourite hobbies or showcasing their cultural heritage. This can include everything from a custom-designed wedding cake to incorporating family heirlooms into the decor. Which personally is one of my favourite Idea's, the things in your life that are showcases to define you as couple should be an important factor on wedding day. We will also be seeing a move towards more experiential weddings. Couples are opting for interactive and immersive experiences for their guests, such as live entertainment, interactive food stations, and hands-on activities. This can create a more memorable and engaging wedding experience for everyone involved.

Celebrant-led weddings are also on the up! Now, more and more couples are opting for unique and personalised celebrations that reflect their individuality and love story. This is where celebrant-led weddings come in.

Celebrant-led weddings offer a completely personalised and bespoke experience. The ceremony is the most important part of the wedding day, and choosing a celebrant ensures that it truly reflects the couple’s personality, values, and love story. A celebrant will work with the couple to create a ceremony that is tailored to their specific needs and desires, from the structure and content of the ceremony to the music and readings.

One of the main reasons why celebrant-led weddings are becoming more popular is that they offer complete flexibility. Couples are no longer restricted to specific locations or venues and can choose to hold their ceremony wherever they wish. Celebrants are also able to perform ceremonies that are not legally binding, which means that couples can have a symbolic ceremony in a location that is meaningful to them and then take care of the legalities elsewhere. It also means that couples can plan two vibes for their weddings ensuring that they also celebrate their legal ceremony before or after the wedding. I mean why not!

Choosing a celebrant also means that the couple has complete control over the tone and style of the ceremony. Whether they want something formal and traditional or relaxed and informal, the celebrant will work with them to create the perfect ceremony that reflects their vision. This means that the couple can truly make the ceremony their own, and ensure that it is a memorable and meaningful part of their wedding day.

Celebrants are often able to offer a range of unique and personalised elements to the ceremony, such as handfasting, sand ceremonies, and unity candles. These rituals can be a beautiful and symbolic way to incorporate the couple’s personality and love story into the ceremony.

In terms of wedding attire, we’ll be seeing a mix of traditional and modern styles. While classic bridal gowns will always be popular, we’ll also see a rise in unconventional wedding attire, such as jumpsuits, separates, and coloured dresses. For grooms, we’ll see a trend towards more relaxed and casual styles, such as linen suits or even shorts.

As we move in 2023 and 2024, technology will continue to play a huge role in weddings. We’ll see a steady rise still of digital invites and RSVPs, as well as the use of social media and wedding websites to keep guests informed and connected. Drones and other high-tech equipment will also become more common for capturing unique and stunning wedding photos and videos.

One trend that has been gaining popularity in recent years and will continue into 2023 and 2024 is the micro-wedding. These smaller, more intimate weddings have become especially popular in the wake of the last 3 years, with many couples discovering the benefits of a more intimate celebration. Micro-weddings allow couples to focus on the details that matter most to them and spend more quality time with their guests as well as acknowledging what really matters is the sentiment of their day.

The wedding trends for 2023 and 2024 are all about personalisation, sustainability, and unique experiences. Couples are seeking out ways to create a wedding that reflects their personalities and values while also being mindful of their impact on the environment. Whether it’s through

unconventional wedding attire, immersive experiences for guests, or eco-friendly decor, the trends for the coming years are all about creating a wedding that is truly one-of-a-kind.
