Some weddings just scream elegance, and Blair and Kelly’s wedding at North Cadbury Court was one of those. From the moment I stepped into the gorgeous venue, I knew their Old Hollywood/Gatsby-inspired vibe was going to be something truly special. North Cadbury Court, tucked away in the beautiful Somerset countryside, gave the whole day this magical, timeless feel that fit perfectly with their vision.

The Venue – A Perfect Match

When Blair and Kelly first laid eyes on North Cadbury Court, it was love at first sight. They were searching for that perfect spot where they could throw a massive house party with all their favourite people, and North Cadbury Court offered them just that. Not only does the venue have zero corkage (definitely a win for any couple!), but it also comes with so many fun little surprises hidden around the estate. They loved the idea of having their nearest and dearest staying onsite for the entire weekend, making it feel like an epic, intimate celebration that could carry on without a hitch.

The Proposal – A Love Story in Mexico

Before we dive into the wedding day, let’s rewind a bit to the proposal. Blair really knocked it out of the park with this one. While they were on holiday in Mexico celebrating ten years together, Blair gave Kelly a scrapbook he had lovingly crafted over the years. It was filled with photos of their journey together, and at the end was a poem – but the final paragraph was left incomplete, with a little note saying “to be continued…” Fast forward to their romantic dinner (which, by the way, Blair had pre-arranged with the restaurant staff like a pro), he handed Kelly a card with the final part of the poem, which asked her to be his wife. By the time she finished reading it, Blair was already on one knee with the ring in hand. The restaurant might have cheered a little too loudly for Kelly’s taste – she’s not big on public displays – but everything about that moment was absolutely perfect.

Their Wedding Day At North Cadbury Court – Old Hollywood Glam Meets a Big House Party

Kelly got ready with her bridesmaids in The Balcony Room at North Cadbury Court, and the excitement was contagious. The vibe was all about Old Hollywood glamour, and Kelly looked like she had stepped right out of a classic movie. Her bridal party, led by her Maid of Honour and sister Kirsty, were equally stunning and really brought that “Gatsby party” energy to life. The ceremony itself was held in the Ball Room, Kelly and Blair exchanged vows in front of 115 of their closest friends and family, with some beautiful readings by Catarina and Gemma their close friends. The atmosphere was gorgeous, with everyone ready to celebrate this incredible couple. Blair, with his background in rugby (which is how they first met, by the way!), was full of energy and charm throughout the day. He and Kelly met through mutual friends after her local rugby team started coming to his games. They bonded over nights out, and fun fact – Kelly even went on to start the first-ever women’s rugby team at their club!

The Reception – A Celebration Like No Other

After the ceremony, it was time for the real party to begin. Speeches were heartfelt and hilarious, with Kelly, Blair, and their families sharing touching moments and funny stories about their journey together. Blair’s best man, Callum, also delivered an epic speech that had everyone laughing. Then into the evening their live band keeping the dance floor packed and a vibe that felt straight out of a 1920s Gatsby soirée, the reception was pure magic.

Kelly and Blair’s first dance was one of the highlights of the night – set to happen just before 9 p.m., they pulled off their signature dance more across the dance floor, something they had been practicing and had routined on their engagement shoot with me. You could feel the love and happiness radiating from the pair. It was clear this wedding was more than just a big party; it was a celebration of a decade of love and fun.

Why My Photography Style Was Perfect for the Day

Blair and Kelly’s Old Hollywood theme was a dream to shoot. The timeless, slightly cinematic feel of their day fit seamlessly with my photography style, which focuses on capturing those real, unfiltered moments. I love working with natural light, and North Cadbury Court’s incredible architecture and surroundings gave me plenty to play with. Especially that of the ball room. it was light filled and gave an incredible cinematic look. Although their theme did benefit hugely from my use of direct flash with gave them the desired look they were after. From the intimate moments shared between Blair and Kelly to the chaos of the dance floor, I was able to document it all without ever having to direct the day too much.

They didn’t need tons of posed shots – they wanted me to capture the magic as it unfolded, and that’s exactly what I did. Their friends, their family, the incredible setting, all came together to create a wedding that felt both glamorous and laid-back.

Blair and Kelly have big dreams of traveling the world together in the future, wherever life takes them. But for now, they’ve got some incredible memories to hold onto from their unforgettable wedding at North Cadbury Court.
