A Fun and Relaxed Silk Mill Wedding Frome, Lucy and Fred’s Big Day!

If you’re dreaming of a fun and effortlessly cool celebration, Lucy and Fred’s Silk Mill Wedding Frome is going to give you all the feels. Their day was full of warmth, laughter and zero fuss, the kind of wedding that makes you feel like you’ve stepped straight into their world. This was a day about family, and everyone they love, all wrapped up in the charm that only The Silk Mill can bring.

These two actually met way back in 2007 at university, crossing paths at birthdays, festivals and weddings for years. They were those friends who were always in each other’s orbit without realising the whole time that they were meant to end up together. Fast forward to a picnic in France with a tiny baby, a tired mum and a ring hidden in a champagne flute, and that was the moment everything clicked into place. Thankfully Lucy didn’t swallow it, and the rest is history.

The Ceremony at The Silk Mill

Everything happened at the one venue which is one of the reasons I absolutely love a Silk Mill Wedding Frome. It keeps the day flowing so naturally and means everyone can settle in and just enjoy themselves. Lucy and Fred had arrival drinks from 1pm in the courtyard, the perfect setting with the white brick, rustic textures and pops of colour.

The Silk Mill is such a special place for photography, the bright white walls and big windows bounce the light beautifully, and the whole building has this raw industrial charm thanks to the restoration work done by the lovely owners Kate and her husband. You can tell how much heart has gone into the place.

Their ceremony kicked off at 2pm, held inside the main space surrounded by their 76 guests. The readings from Bethany and Tom were personal and funny, the whole thing felt genuine and full of love, no frills, just the two of them promising forever in their own way.

Straight after the ceremony we headed out into the courtyard for confetti which exploded into a cloud of colour and laughter. These two were naturals, totally themselves, and I always keep portraits easy and quick so they can get back to the party. The outdoor space at The Silk Mill is ideal for this, you’ve got textured walls, greenery, open shade and plenty of little corners to play with.

Reception and Food

Their reception was such a vibe, honestly. Drinks flowed and the energy built up nicely. Basement17 Tacos delivered absolute magic, proper crowd pleasers that suited the laid back feel of the whole day. Pony and Tap kept the drinks topped up and the atmosphere buzzing.

The speeches were spaced throughout the meal which kept it moving really nicely. Lucy and Fred did their own speeches before starters, which I always love as it’s such an authentic way to kick things off. 

The whole space was tied together by Common Farm Flowers who brought in natural loose florals that suited the building perfectly. Think soft colours, seasonal textures, nothing too polished, just really beautiful and honest.

Huge shoutout to Georgina at Scarlett Rose Events as well, the wedding planner behind the scenes keeping everything seamless. She’s amazing to work with, super friendly and on the ball throughout the whole day.

Party Time at The Silk Mill

These two finished with a proper party. Their first dance at around eight set the tone and DJ Tim Hinson took it from there. The Silk Mill is brilliant for evening photos because the lighting is warm and intimate, and the space has such a great atmosphere once the sun dips.
