This isn’t a judgement on anyone else’s approach, it’s just an honest explanation of how I work and why the last decade of my business has been successful.
Over the years I’ve noticed a shift in how some couples talk about their wedding photography and films, words like content, output, edit style and deliverables come up more and more, and for some people that approach makes total sense
But it’s not how I work, and it never has been
I don’t approach weddings as content days.
I don’t work from shot lists built around trends.
I don’t try to manufacture moments to fit an edit.
I document real days as they unfold.
My approach is rooted in trust, observation and experience, I’m there to respond to what actually happens, not what was planned on paper weeks before, weddings are unpredictable by nature, timings slip, emotions run high, light changes, people act in ways they didn’t expect, and that’s where the real story lives.
After more than a decade of photographing weddings, I’ve learned that the more control you try to place on a wedding day, the more pressure it creates, not just for suppliers, but for couples too, when the focus shifts to producing something specific, it’s easy to miss what’s actually happening in front of you.
I don’t offer multiple edit styles or bespoke creative directions, the work you see in my portfolio is exactly how I work on the day and how your photos and films will feel, natural, honest, documentary led, with an editorial eye where it fits, booking me means trusting that process.
That trust is important.
I’ll guide when it’s needed, I’ll step in quietly when something needs shaping, but I won’t turn your wedding into a production, I won’t ask you to recreate moments for the sake of a clip, and I won’t prioritise social media content over experience.
For some couples, that clarity is exactly why they book me. For others, it helps them realise they want something different. And that’s ok.
There are some incredibly talented photographers and videographers who offer highly styled, content driven coverage, with more direct creative control built in for couples, if that’s what you’re drawn to, then I genuinely believe you should choose someone who works that way.
For the couples who book me, it’s usually because they want to be present on there wedding day, to trust the people they’ve hired, and to look back on their wedding as it actually felt, not how it was designed to look or presented to represent a personal brand or online persona.
That’s the work I love, That’s the work I’m proud of and that’s the work I’ll always stand by. It’s also for the types of couples who understand that not everything is about “content”
